‘The special thing about the Baroque Soloists is, first and foremost, very important: you only do it out of passion, for fun,’ says Dorian Xhoxhi, violinist with the Berliner Philharmoniker and the ensemble for baroque music that emerged from it. Is there a better reason to join together as an ensemble? The fact that this group, which was founded exactly three decades ago ‘just for fun’, has long since become one of the leading ensembles for music of the 17th and 18th centuries is one of the wonderful ‘side effects’ of the Berlin Baroque Soloists. CD recordings, international appearances and last year's Opus Klassik award as Ensemble of the Year document this status. Together with Reinhard Goebel, artistic director since a brilliant European tour together in 2018, the Berliners are now coming to the Alte Oper with baroque classics by Bach and Telemann in their luggage.
