Programme
A good three weeks - if everything goes according to plan. A good three weeks after his recital in Frankfurt until Olivier Latry gets his old ‘workplace’ back. The reopening of the badly damaged Notre-Dame de Paris Cathedral is planned for 8 December 2024, by which time all 8,000 pipes of the organ, which are currently still being cleaned of lead dust in various regions of France, must of course be lined up again, ready for use in their new old splendour. Before Latry, titular organist of Notre-Dame for many years, can inaugurate the restored organ, he is bringing a programme of music from ‘his’ cathedral to Frankfurt. This will include music by Louis Vierne, the composer who himself was appointed titular organist of the cathedral in 1900. And who died of a stroke during a concert at the console of the famous organ in 1937.
