Before the Artemis II mission launches a manned flight to the Moon in 2026, we will send three little heroes on a journey to the Earth's satellite without any technical problems and without a rocket. The programme for the Papageno Musiktheater's Christmas guest performance includes 'Peter's Journey to the Moon', which was published as a picture book in 1915 and has since become a classic of children's literature. The team around the theatre's founder and director, Hans-Dieter Maienschein, has given this still-popular fairy tale a new musical guise. The story of a lost beetle leg is retold to the sparse but effective sounds of violin and piano. The young audience can accompany the cockchafer Sumsemann, Anneliese and Peterchen on an adventurous journey to the moon to rescue his grandfather's sixth leg and bring it back to earth.
