Conclusion with the evening's participantsVimbayi Kaziboni returns as guest conductor of the Ensemble Modern to present a programme of contrasts at the cutting edge of contemporary music. The world premiere will be of a new commissioned work by Alex Paxton: not only as a composer but also as a jazz trombonist, he is one of the most imaginative musicians of his generation, whose music is characterised by its unusual nature as well as its special emotional energy and bright colours. The other pieces on this evening's programme also promise unprecedented sonic experiences that oscillate between the boundaries of style and genre, be it the freaky encounter between keyboard and talkbox in Bertram Wee's 'My Body, Broken For Your Amusement', Tansy Davies' beat-driven 'Neon' score, or the equally rhythmically astute pieces by Anna Meredith and Anthony Braxton.
