Programme
It is time for 'Jauchzet, frohlocket'. And when the Flemish B'Rock Orchestra sets the tone, you can be sure that the rejoicing will be exuberant. This is because the ensemble cultivates a committed, intuitive approach to music-making, based on a thorough study of historical performance practice. Playing on period instruments, the group has been enriching the music scene since 2005 with lively performances of both familiar and lesser-known repertoire from the 17th and 18th centuries. A firm favourite is Bach's Christmas Oratorio, with its colourful orchestral writing and trumpet brilliance to match. The opulent choruses and contemplative chorales will be performed by the Augsburg Cathedral Boys' Choir under their conductor Stefan Steinemann. This will be the first time that this traditional boys' choir has performed at the Alte Oper.
