It was with a heavy heart that Hilary Hahn had to cancel part of the Alte Oper's focus on her in the 2024/25 season. Fortunately, she has such strong links with the theatre that her local fans can look forward to hearing her again this season. She will be joined by the Philharmonia Orchestra in a joint concert championing one of her favourite composers: Sergei Prokofiev. She points out that his violin concertos thrive on a wealth of timbres and technical challenges that change at a rapid pace. A mental challenge," says the exceptional violinist, "and great fun at the same time. But always with musical depth. Or, as Hilary Hahn puts it: 'Magic for the ears'.
