With its fresh and captivating sound, The Jakob Manz Project is one of the most successful bands in German jazz. Founded in 2017 as a band project by four young people, the formation around its namesake Manz has gained a loyal and steadily growing audience. Whether in the club or on the big festival stage, the quartet's energy leaves an enthusiastic audience behind. In 2024, the band's second album 'The Answer' was released on the renowned jazz label ACT, featuring Matthias Schriefl, one of Germany's most versatile trumpeters. Jakob Manz, his band and Matthias Schriefl now bring this programme to the Alte Oper. Even though the young leader's saxophone is usually in the foreground, there is always room for everyone involved to show off their skills. And perhaps that is the secret that has kept this band together for so many years - a shared vision of convincingly grooving jazz, performed by four talents who always allow each other to take the spotlight.
